Through our flagship programs—African Power Data Hub, African Power Connect, African Power Awards, and African Power Talks—we are building an ecosystem of opportunities, mentorship, and collective impact..

• African Power Data Hub: A platform for census data and insights on the diaspora, designed to identify career, investment, and project opportunities in Africa and Europe.

• African Power Connect: A dynamic network of chapters that connects professionals, mentors, entrepreneurs, and project leaders in the diaspora and across Africa.

• African Power Awards: An annual competition that recognizes and supports the best entrepreneurial and impact projects led by the African diaspora.

Volunteer Position | Remote

Role Description: Data Analyst

As a Data Analyst, you will transform the data collected through our census forms into actionable insights for the African diaspora and African Power’s partners. Working closely with the Head of Programme Data Hub, you will analyze trends, create compelling visualizations, and produce high-quality impact reports.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Data Management: Clean, structure, and analyze diaspora census data.

• Visualization: Create clear and impactful dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio) to make data accessible.

• Insight Generation: Identify key trends, patterns, and insights (sectors, skills, aspirations, etc.).

• Strategic Reporting: Produce regular reports to guide strategic decision-making.

• Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous optimization of data collection forms.

• Compliance: Ensure GDPR compliance and the strict protection of personal data.

Note: This is a volunteer position. It offers a unique opportunity to apply data science to social impact and contribute to a pioneering project for the continent.

Candidate Profile

Core Competencies:

• Data Analysis: Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and experience handling large datasets.

• Data Visualization: Ability to build intuitive and high-impact dashboards.

• Rigor: Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.

• Communication: Talent for translating complex data into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Assets:

• Proficiency in Python (pandas, matplotlib) or R for data analysis.

• Background in data science, statistics, or quantitative research.

• Strong understanding of GDPR and data protection principles.

• Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or a related field.

Personal Qualities:

• Intellectual curiosity and an analytical mindset.

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

• Passion for using data as a force for social good.
