African Power is a community initiative that aims to connect, empower, and support the African diaspora in Europe, while building lasting bridges with the African continent. Through our flagship programs—African Power Data Hub, African Power Connect, African Power Awards, and African Power Talks—we are building an ecosystem of opportunities, mentorship, and collective impact..

Our 4 pillars:

  • African Power Data Hub: A platform for census data and insights on the diaspora, designed to identify career, investment, and project opportunities in Africa and Europe.

  • African Power Connect: A dynamic network of chapters that connects professionals, mentors, entrepreneurs, and project leaders in the diaspora and across Africa.

  • African Power Awards: An annual competition that recognizes and supports the best entrepreneurial and impact projects led by the African diaspora.

  • African Power Talks: A series of inspiring conferences, panels, and interviews highlighting the success stories, expertise, and exceptional journeys of the African diaspora.

Our mission: To transform the talents, skills, and aspirations of the diaspora into concrete drivers of personal and community development.

Volunteer Position | Remote

Role Description: Head of African Power Talks

As the Head of African Power Talks, you will be responsible for the strategic design, production, and hosting of our signature series of conferences, panels, and inspirational interviews. Your mission is to spotlight the success stories, expertise, and exceptional journeys of the African diaspora through engaging formats, including in-person talks, webinars, podcasts, and video interviews.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Editorial Strategy: Develop the editorial vision and calendar for African Power Talks (themes, formats, and frequency).

  • Speaker Curation: Identify and invite high-profile speakers, including entrepreneurs, global leaders, experts, and innovators.

  • Event Production: Conceptualize and produce both digital and in-person Talk events.

  • Content Coordination: Oversee the production of multi-channel content (podcasts, videos, and articles) derived from the Talks.

  • Partnerships: Build strategic alliances with media outlets, digital platforms, and institutions to amplify our reach.

  • Hosting & Moderation: Lead and moderate sessions or recruit and brief external moderators.

  • Impact Measurement: Track audience engagement, feedback, and conversion metrics to optimize future sessions.

  • Knowledge Hub: Curate a digital library of inspirational content accessible to the entire diaspora.

Note: This is a volunteer position. It offers a unique opportunity to sharpen your skills in content production, event hosting, and strategic storytelling while actively empowering the African diaspora.

Candidate Profile

Core Competencies:

  • Event Production: Proven experience in organizing conferences, webinars, or similar high-level events.

  • Content Curation: Ability to identify emerging trends and select impactful speakers.

  • Public Speaking: High level of confidence in moderating panels and conducting professional interviews.

  • Strategic Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and recruit high-level speakers.

  • Project Management: Ability to coordinate multiple productions simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Additional Assets:

  • Background in journalism, media, or audiovisual production.

  • An existing network of influential figures within the African diaspora.

  • Skills in podcasting, video production, or live-streaming platforms (Zoom, StreamYard, YouTube Live).

Personal Qualities:

  • Intellectual curiosity and a passion for transformative stories.

  • Creative mindset in designing engaging and modern formats.

  • Natural charisma and comfort in front of a camera or live audience.

  • Unwavering commitment to celebrating and scaling African talent.

  • Is this a remote role? Yes, all positions are remote-first. However, some roles (such as Chapter Coordinators) may require a local presence for on-site events.

  • Can I hold multiple roles? This depends on your availability and our current needs. We generally recommend focusing on one primary role to ensure quality and impact.
